Lynx Ridge Golf Club

With five tees on each of its 18 holes, Lynx Ridge ranges from 5,200 yards to a demanding 6,826-yard par 71. Seventy white silica sand traps contour the lush fairways, while 17 water hazards add to the challenge.

Springbank Links Golf Course

As the front nine carves through a series of steep valleys that cascade toward Bearspaw Reservoir, numerous elevation changes bring challenging shots through chutes of trees and over ravines. On the back nine, the course transforms into rolling terrain with two lakes, two ponds and a magnificent sandstone waterfall.

Valley Ridge Golf & Conference Centre

The ‘River Nine’ and ‘Ridge Nine’ form this 7,026-yard, 18-hole championship course. Four tee boxes per hole allow golfers of all abilities can enjoy this exceptionally beautiful public course.

Bearspaw Country Club

Members of this private course may choose from six different yardages, from 5,126 to 6,774. With water features on 11 holes, the course winds through coulees and plateaus, presenting players with a wide diversity of terrain and elevation changes.

The Links of GlenEagles

This Les Furber design is a public day-fee course. Score Magazine considers GlenEagles one of the Top 100 in Canada and Top 10 in Alberta.

Cochrane Golf Club

This semi-private nine-hole course features a scenic backdrop of Rocky Mountain peaks and foothills.

Crowfoot Family YMCA

This 60,000 sq ft facility features a 25-metre saltwater pool, variable depth training pool, gymnasium, multi-purpose rooms, meeting rooms, strength and conditioning area, indoor running track and full amenity locker rooms. The Crowfoot YMCA is wheelchair accessible and has a snack bar, personal fitness services and ample on-site parking.

Canada Olympic Park (COP)

COP was the primary venue for ski jumping, bobsleigh and luge during the 1988 Winter Olympics. In the winter, the park is open to the public for downhill skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing. In the summer, COP’s 25 kilometres of trails draw mountain biking enthusiasts.

Crowchild Twin Arena

Along with two arenas offering public skating times, Crowchild Twin Arena is home to Blades Pro Shop and Spring Hill Sport Therapy.

A true community centre, BLC includes a gymnasium, hall and dance studio, and it offers a broad range of programs for every member of the family – from badminton, yoga, indoor soccer and drop-in gym times to youth groups and babysitting courses to movie matinees.

Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park

Watermark at Bearspaw’s 46 acres of parkland are poised to become the gateway to Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park – a 3,400-acre park and pathway system stretching along the Bow River all the way from Bearspaw to Cochrane, with further greenway linkages to downtown Calgary.

12 Mile Coulee Natural Environment Park

Part of Calgary’s river valley park system, this 190-hectare park features an escarpment area and coulee. Calgary Parks has a drafted a plan to enhance the park with approximately 10 km of trails, interpretive signage, benches and parking areas.

Bowmont Park Natural Area

Bowmont Park occupies more than 400 acres laced with 42 kilometres of trails along the northern bank of the Bow River. The name is a blending of the names of two nearby communities: Bowness and Montgomery.

Bowness Park

An inviting riverside destination for picnickers, Bowness Park features a shallow lagoon that runs along its southern edge – a popular spot for paddle-boating in the summer and skating in the winter. Amenities include paths, a large playground, a water park, fire pits and BBQ stands, shelters, washrooms, water fountains and the ParkSide Café.

Nose Hill Park

Covering more than 11 square kilometres, Nose Hill Natural Environment Park – Calgary’s second largest park – is a sanctuary of rolling grasslands with many kilometres of hiking and biking trails.

Crowfoot Park

Located next to the Crowfoot Family YMCA, Crowfoot Park includes outdoor sports field and three baseball diamonds.

Nakiska

Located in the heart of Kananaskis Valley, Nakiska was created to host the alpine events of the 1988 Winter Olympics. Seventy percent of its terrain is rated as intermediate, 16% as novice and the rest as expert. Six lifts (including two high-speed quads) service 750 skiable acres with a vertical drop of 2,412 feet.

Mt. Norquay

The twin runs of Banff Mount Norquay cater to family skiing, and the resort has lighted runs for night skiing. For hardcore downhillers, no runs anywhere can match Upper Lone Pine and Gun Run, a dynamite black-diamond duo. Banff Mt. Norquay has a total vertical drop of 1,650 feet.

Lake Louise

With 4,200 skiable acres, 3,250 vertical feet and 139 named runs, Lake Louise is among the largest ski areas in North America. Beginners and intermediate skiers will find numerous gentle slopes and long cruising runs, while experts can explore endless chutes, glades, gullies and remote bowls in some of the Rockies’ most challenging terrain.

Alberta’s largest hospital, Foothills Medical Centre provides comprehensive and specialized medical and surgical services to Calgary and southern Alberta. In addition to a 24-hour emergency room and inpatient care, FMC has 57 outpatient clinics on site.

One of the largest outdoor malls in Calgary, Crowfoot Crossing features over 240 shops and services including Rona, Safeway, Calgary Co-op and a Cineplex Odeon theatre.

This ‘power centre’ is anchored by Wal-Mart, London Drugs and Sobeys. Other major tenants include Home Outfitters, Reitmans, Penningtons, La Senza, Royal Bank, Blockbuster and Sleep Country.

Sunshine Village

Located 15 minutes west of Banff, Sunshine receives more snow than any other ski area in the Canadian Rockies – more than nine meters (30 feet) each winter. A 12-lift system (featuring seven modern quad chairs) carries 20,000 skiers each hour to the top of Sunshine’s 3,514-foot vertical.
