Stunning foyer sets tone for Trickle Creek's luxury show home
Soaring ceilings with skylights, a four-car garage and luxurious outdoor living spaces are among the highlights in this treasure chest by Trickle Creek Designer Homes.
Sharing the name of an island in the region of Portugal, the Madeira is the builder’s latest show home in award-winning Watermark at Bearspaw. The Macdonald Development Corp. community earned its third straight Community of the Year Calgary region title at the Canadian Home Builders’ Association-Calgary Region SAM (Sales and Marketing) Awards last spring. Just west of Calgary city limits, scenic Watermark is now selling in its third phase of development, where prices start from $1.2 million.
The Madeira is 3,805 square feet across its main and second floors, with an additional 1,593 square feet in its developed basement. Its four-car garage starts with a tandem bay on the left side of the house, joined by two single bays. Buyers with fewer than four vehicles will still appreciate the space for storage or a workshop.
Watermark is surrounded by natural beauty, making connections to the fresh air a smart consideration for any floor plan in the community. This home does that three times with two outdoor amenities on the main level and another upstairs. On the main floor, there’s a 14 foot six inch by 19 foot outdoor great room through a door fronted in glass off the indoor great room. Its focal point is a fireplace surrounded in stone and it’s ideal for entertaining with space for several chairs and a table.
Other outdoor amenities include an expansive 395-square-foot deck off the great room and a 282-square-foot balcony from the master bedroom.
The great room, dining area and kitchen blend through an open-concept design. The dining area sits under a soaring vaulted ceiling illuminated by an elegant four-piece skylight. It’s accented by a full-to-ceiling laser cut patterned screen made of powder coated steel that covers a central stairwell leading to both the second floor and basement.
The L-shaped kitchen has clean-lined white cabinets with glass fronts along top, and upscale stainless steel appliances, including a fridge with french doors and chimney-style hoodfan. There’s a large island with an extended eating bar that seats four people and a walk-through pantry that meets up with one of two mudrooms. Both mudrooms access a garage bay.
Another showpiece for home is its open-to-above front foyer, which stretches 26 feet to a vaulted ceiling. Complementing the welcoming feature are a number of large window on, around and above the front door. The main floor also includes a half bathroom and home office.
The second floor stars the master bedroom and its high-end accessories. It gets plenty of sunshine through a series of four large windows along its rear-facing wall and three longer windows over the bed on an interior wall next to the sky lights. The aforementioned balcony gives the owner’s a desirable place to turn for a cup of coffee on a warm morning or glass of wine before bed.
In the ensuite, floating his and her vanities have impressive stretches of counter space, making the potential for clutter a non-factor. Each vanity sits under a full-width and full-height mirror. They face a free-standing tub next to a window. The standalone shower is down a short hallway to a sizeable walk-in closet.
The ensuite and closet share a wall with a laundry room and bonus room that sit side-by-side. Secondary bedrooms flank a full bathroom are on the other end of the floor and each come with its own walk-in closet.
A fourth bedroom, again with a walk-in closet included, is on one corner of the basement. The other corners feature a gym, bar, and home theatre, revolving around a rec room. The rec room is a wine enthusiast’s delight, featuring a showcase rack for 360 bottles.
