Cutting Edge Meets Old Charm
Josh Skapin of the Calgary Herald goes into detail about the magnificent showhome by Homes by Us that recently opened in Watermark at Bearspaw.
If you haven’t been out to see the showhomes yet, this is definitely one you don’t want to miss!
Old World charm meets cutting-edge technology in a new estate home in Watermark at Bearspaw by Homes by Us called the Canberra.
Its spiral staircase is near a basement floor-to-ceiling stone wall, reminiscent of a European castle. But downstairs, medieval turns to modern with a golf simulator and home theatre featuring a 106-inch screen and seating for nine.
The golf simulator gives fans of the links a chance to polish their game through a virtual look at different courses, seasons and weather conditions.
It allows people to hone their skills before trying the real thing.
The Canberra is a 7,143-square-foot home in the new community west of Calgary.
It is one of three homes to open its doors as part of the Watermark development’s recent show home parade called the Street of Distinction.
The home has three bedrooms, a separate nanny suite and eight bathrooms — not to mention 17 sinks.
The basement also includes two secondary bedrooms, each with an ensuite and walk-in closet, a large storage space, a rec room, laundry room and exercise room.
The main floor offers plenty of space to relax with family or entertain guests, including two great rooms — one inside and one outside.
The covered deck has enough space for a large table, chairs and barbecue.
This space can be shut-off from the wind and bugs through an automated screen cover.
The home also boasts a long rear-facing deck that connects to the inside great room. Both areas offer a view of the Rocky Mountains and one of several cascading ponds in the community.
The kitchen is elegant with stylish faucets, dual dishwashers, expansive granite countertops and central island, and towering 11-foot cabinets.
A rectangle-shaped pantry and butler’s pantry connect to one end of the kitchen.
The open-concept kitchen links to the great room. One of five fireplaces in the home is a two-way fireplace between the great room and a formal dining room.
The aforementioned spiral staircase is in the great room. It acts as a buffer separating the common area with a private space including an office, master bedroom and ensuite.
The ensuite feels like the spa at a five-star retreat, with perks including a shower that can be operated remotely – so the water is at the ideal temperature, speed and style before even leaving the bedroom.
The home includes a tandem four-car garage that can fit five vehicles.
